The eclectic protagonist of an extraordinary artistic career (which is divided into different activities such as the design and participation and realization of grandiose TV shows such as Stasera CasaMika and X Factor in Italy and The Voice in France) has decided to bring the focus back totally on music. Twelve years after Life in Cartoon Motion's stellar debut that was launched by the huge hit Grace Kelly, the new project comes after 4 studio albums, 1 symphonic concert album, 1 anthology collection, 23 singles and 4 live DVDs that yielded him Gold and platinum certifications in 32 countries worldwide for over 10 million records sold.
The result of two years of writing in the home between Miami, London and the Tuscan countryside, My Name Is Michael Holbrook will lead us to discover the essence of Mika's identity, starting from his legal name, passing through family relationships and a wealth of small and large experiences, between moments of lightness and poignant key episodes of his life and his family, as Mika himself explains: "I went in search of who I could have been, if I had not been Mika. Some artists try their hand at an artistic alter ego, from the grandiose David Bowie with Ziggy Stardust, to Beyoncé with Sasha Fierce. I did the opposite, I went to discover the man behind the artist. "
Waiting to discover the new songs, the first single has arrived at the right time, in the right season, contagious and irresistibly "up", but also with a "dark" and allusive side, as are Relax, Take It Easy and Lollipop and others hit songs by Mika. "Ice Cream was born on a torrid day last summer, at the end of a long journey of writing. Two years in which I dealt with personal, serious, even painful questions, and now I feel lighter and freer. It was August, in Tuscany. I wanted to go to the beach, or escape somewhere cool. I fantasized about summer flirts with someone from supersexy and completely out of my reach, I fantasized about being the man I always want to be, especially in the summer. And instead I found myself only with the discomfort of summer heat: sweat, deadlines, bee stings, and not even an air-conditioned breath. Ice Cream is a dreamy fantasy with open eyes. It glitters like a mirage and makes me feel like everything is possible. I was inspired by the irreverent attitude of 80s-90s music, such as that of George Michael. The aspiration is to become a better version of myself and be proud of it. To dare to be a sensual man, to dare to express clearly the desire that I have always kept in my head. Here's how and why I wrote Ice Cream. "
In November Mika will bring the new songs and his extraordinary successes on tour, with a show around Europe. The Revelation Tour begins in London on November 10th, to continue in Spain, France, Italy, Switzerland, Holland, Belgium and Luxembourg. The Italian tour promoted by Barley Arts for Mika will consist of 12 stages in the big arenas of as many cities, a record for a large-caliber international artist.
